The 2017 Ireland tour is sold out and I’ve started a waiting list, but here are the dates for 2018 ~
May 23 thru June 1st. This visit will be in counties
Mayo, Galway & Clare. The information below still applies.
“Visits to historic sites, music in the pubs, other folks on the trip, food and beverages (Guinness, of course) … everything was superb. I just can’t stay away from Ireland, so I’m traveling with Kitty again in 2017 ~ it will make my third time!” happy touree
Imagine you on a comfortable bus filled with 20+ other wonderful, friendly folks, riding on the backroads of the West Coast of Ireland, stopping at little seaside towns for lunch, walking in the waves of a hidden cove, seeing fairy rings, stone circles, and stunning scenery every day for 10 full days. Then imagine you resting up at your small family hotel, eating dinner (some of the best seafood you’ll ever taste!), then spending the evening listening to fabulous, authentic traditional Irish music ~ drinking Guiness, whiskey, or other libations, if such is your pleasure. Imagine being in Ireland for 10 days/9 nights and not seeing ONE McDonald’s, Target, Burger King, Walmart, strip mall…or having to remember to ‘stay left’ when you’re on the road, because you’re not driving!
In May 2016 we were treated to music by Cathy Jordan (of Dervish) and her friends, an authentic sean nos (old-style Gaelic) singer, music at Malloy’s Pub in Westport (that’s Matt Malloy of the Chieftan’s) and a vast array of fiddlers, singers and sometimes dancers. Not to mention there was a lot of fun singing on the bus. We visited the Cliffs of Moher, the island of Inishbofin, Poultnabrone (ancient stone site), the Burren ~ and too much more to recall!
At the end of both of my previous tours the comment most made by guests was that the trip was even better than they had imagined it would be. I’d agree. See more photos below.
Launched over a decade ago, the Inishfree Irish Music Tours grow more popular every year and often sell out many months ahead of their scheduled dates.
Here’s the basic info on joining us in Ireland!
We spend three days each in Co. Cork, Co. Kerry and Co. Clare, all on the gorgeous, wild West Coast of Ireland. We spend three nights in the same B & B or hotel before moving on ~ which means you don’t have to pack your bags every morning to get them back on the bus!
Inishfree Tours pride themselves on being ‘tours for people who hate tours,’ and they mean it. If you don’t feel you want to go on one of the day trips, you don’t have to. You’re free to hang out in town, go to a tearoom, read, get to know the locals in the pub down the road or watch sheep. The day trips are always amazing and informative, and again, the music is outstanding, every single night. And as a side note for me, at least, is the lifelong friendships formed on each trip. Three from the 2015 tour became great friends and returned together for 2016.
Costs for the 2017 trip are $2,350 for a shared room, $2,850 for a room of your own. (A limited availability of singles). That fee includes all 9 nights lodging, all hearty breakfasts, 3 group
dinners, entry fees to all parks, museums, etc. ~ and your reserved spot for the evening music. The fee does not include your air fare, remaining meals, Guiness or souvinirs. A deposit of 1/3 holds your spot for the trip with the remaining 2/3 spread out over two more payments in the remaining months until the trip.
It may seem early to be booking the 2017 tour, but the trips tend to book early ~ and some of them are already sold out.
